The items you need to be camera ready on shoot day, and graduation day!
1. Regalia
This might seem obvious, but you'd be surprised how many students might forget a critical piece of their regalia. Make sure all the pieces you want to be photographed in make it to your shoot: gown, stole, cap, tassel, and any honors cords or additional pieces you'd like. Bonus points if you iron or steam your gown and stole beforehand!
2. Safety Pins or Fabric Tape
This one's a pro tip! Use safety pins (or even fabric tape) to keep your stole in place during photos. Especially in Dallas, the wind poses a major threat to thin fabrics, like graduation stoles, and can make it harder to pose in grad photos.
3. Comfortable Walking Shoes
College campuses are big and beautiful, but walking in heels or boots between photo locations can leave you wincing from pain or blisters. Bring a change of shoes that you can easily slide on and off between pics. Crocs, Birkenstocks, or sandals work best!
4. Don't Forget Your Props!
Champagne sprays, class rings, award certificates, and even pets are all welcome additions to your grad shoot! Any tokens that are meaningful to your college journey make for great photos.
5. Cosmetics
A mirror and hairbrush are helpful to have on hand to make sure you're camera ready before snapping a photo. Pro tip: Pack blotting sheets or a small towel to keep sweat and the Texas heat at bay during your shoot!
